Breast Implant Revision Before & After Case 1663

This 58 year old had breast implants inserted in 2009 and consulted Dr. Parker after noticing a change in appearance of her left breast over the prior 6 months. The patient’s examination showed firmness and contraction of the left breast consistent with capsular contracture; the right breast was very soft. An ultrasound showed bilateral intracapsular ruptured implants. Review of the prior operative report showed that the patient previously had 275 cc silicone implants inserted through inframammary incisions in dual plane pockets. At surgery, using the patient’s existing incisions, Dr. Parker removed the ruptured implants from both pockets, then cleansed them thoroughly with a cleocin antibiotic solution. He then created a neo-subpectoral pocket on the left breast, dissecting a new dual plane pocket, in order to properly treat the capsular contracture on that side. As requested by the patient, Dr. Parker then inserted the same size implants into both breast pockets using a Keller funnel. The patient was pleased with the ease of her recovery and loves the appearance of her soft natural-appearing breasts.
